United Water To Replace Meters in Franklin Lakes

New system will result in more accurate meter readings

HARRINGTON PARK, NJ, June 7, 2001 -- As part of an effort to upgrade technology United Water workers will be in Franklin Lakes on June 12, 14 and 16 to read and replace water meters. Residents are asked to provide representatives with access to allow for the improvements.

Current meters determine the bill cost through phone lines. The upgraded system will allow field representatives to read the meter using a hand held device that emits low band frequency from the meter. Jim Glozzy, General Manager said the new system will result in more accurate meter readings. “The new meters will enable us to continue to read your meter remotely while reducing the likelihood of estimated bills.”

This replacement process should take less than an hour. Residents can also schedule an appointment for a meter change out by calling our customer service center at 800 422 5987. United Water New Jersey provides water service to approximately 750,000 residents in Bergen and Hudson counties. More information about United Water is available at www.unitedwater.com/uwnj.
